2024
2024 was a warm, dry year, and it brought an unusually early harvest to the region. The sunny months gave us concentrated grapes with high sugar levels, and thanks to the dry conditions there was very little fungal disease to contend with. It is a vintage that promises riper, fruitier wines, where most of the work went into carefully preserving the acidity and the balance.
2023
2023 brought a wet, cooler spring and summer to the Balaton Uplands, which meant slower ripening and a harvest that started later than usual. All that rain made protecting the vines a serious job, but in return we got full, healthy bunches and balanced wines with fresh acidity. This was a vintage about patience, and it shows in the finished wines: more restrained, more elegant in character.
Borlokátor
As an architect, I learned to pay attention to what a place wants to be before you start telling it. I try to do the same with wine. Badacsony doesn't need much explaining: volcanic soil, an enormous expanse of water, centuries of viticulture. My job is to get all of that into the bottle, and as little else as possible.
